It is the use of living.

PUBLISHING

Sunday Jump has published physical and digital chapbooks featuring art from multiple disciplines.

SPECIAL EVENTS

The following events are examples of the types of special events we do. As a community arts organization, we believe in the power of collaboration.

KATIPUNAN POETRY SLAM

Since 2014, Sunday Jump has organized the Katipunan Poetry Slam.

For Filipinos, the modern day poetry slam is an echo of the balagtasan (a poetic, political debate). Continuing the work of those who have paved the way before us, from Jose Rizal to Jessica Hagedorn, the slam provides a platform for us to showcase the variety of voices and points of view among Filipinos and Filipino-Americans today.

The lineup includes published authors and seasoned slam champions who are recognized locally and nationally.

UNHEARD LA SHOWCASE

In August 2019, we partnered with KPCC In Person’s Unheard LA storytelling series to provide a Special Edition of Sunday Jump at their home base in Pasadena: the Crawford Family Forum.

To represent our space, we developed a specially curated show that brought in an all-star lineup that consisted of longtime family, as well as newer artists who have entered the Sunday Jump fold.

LET’S TALK ABOUT FILIPINO MENTAL HEALTH (AND DO KARAOKE!)

In November 2022, we collaborated with the LA Times to host a panel at Pilipino Workers Center about Filipino mental health, followed by a friendly karaoke competition between Asian American mental health organizations.
